We Grow for the Shade!

I am compelled to write about a weather event of 2004. Mother nature never ceases to amaze me. In September, a tornado touched down at the nursery. Every tree in our sales area was taken down by the swift and fierce winds. In the shade garden, only portions of three trees remain that should make it. Thru the winter we plan to build a lathe house, recycling fallen locust trees, so that we can continue specializing in shade plants.

Mail Order Catalog: Inside are our listings for mail order hostas. We only ship nice size single or doubles. They are packed in the order that they arrive, shipped after they emerge in the spring.

Nursery Stock/On Site Sales: We pride ourselves on being a place with the unusual. For instance, our mainstay, shade tolerant plants themselves, are only available in small quantity and variety at your local garden center. In addition to hostas, we stock acuba, azaleas, boxwoods, mountain laurels, leucothoe, mahonia, nandinas, and rhodos… also other perennials like fern, hellebore and heather to name a few.

Hand Crafted Garden Ornamentals

Something new this year is a hand crafted ornamental line! I am molding garden creations from real live leaves, with cement. The items available include birdbaths and feeders, hanging leaves, even dishes. Custom orders are possible. You gotta come to the nursery to see these!
